I was a patient here at Kindred Gateway. My name is Thomas. I came here after being in intensive care for about four weeks. I was not conscious most of the time and it was kind of a drug- indused coma and I came here kind of as I guess a step-down program to get released. I was full of tubes and I had a trach in and a ventilator and feeding tubes. I was pretty beat up and the first thing I remember is they brought me into Kindred to intensive care and I remember a nurse came in and she was a respiratory therapist, I got to know her as a respiratory therapist after that, and she had this huge smile and she just like glowed and said "oh, we've got you know, everything is going the be alright." I was really scared. Like I said I was unconscious for so long. There was just so much going on in my mind I had all of these different emotions going on and I just kind of felt really comfortable just from her smile and from the feeling that I got from her just being her and that just continued. The nurses here were really wonderful. I started doing physical therapy and they taught me how to walk again and I was having a lot of trouble breathing and no matter what it was that I went through there was always somebody there to help me get through it. Everybody rallied up and whatever I needed they were there for me, in all the areas, you know, the mental support and of course the physical support. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend Kindred for medical care.
